How do I get started climbing if I'm new?

If you’ve never climbed before, we recommend a One Hour Staff Belay Session, which can be booked by clicking here.

Climbers of any ability level can get started with bouldering and using our autobelays. Before you begin you must fill out a waiver and undergo a bouldering and/or auto-belay orientation at the gym. If you want to climb the top rope walls, someone who has passed our belay test must belay for you.

What ages are allowed to climb?

We allow children as young as 2 years old to climb, however, we recommend age 4 to start as younger children may not be physically strong enough to enjoy the sport entirely.

We do have two top rope areas with lower walls to ease children into trusting the equipment.  One section is approximately 12 feet tall, the other is approximately 30 feet tall.

For children too young to enjoy climbing, we recommend our ninja room at The Factory which features a child-sized bouldering play structure with slides to get back down, as well as a wide assortment of gymnastic obstacles for all ages.

How old do you need to be to top rope belay?

We allow belayers as young as 14 to top rope belay at Reach.  To top rope belay you must first pass a belay test proving you are capable of tying yourself in with a Figure-8 Followthrough knot, as well as safely perform PBUS style belaying with a Petzl Grigri device.
